
Supply Chain Intern – Valentin Tofan
Valentin travelled from Moldova to the UK for a 6-month Supply Chain Internship in Salisbury.
What was your motivation to apply for this supply chain internship?
To experience working and living in another country. Use my knowledge from university in real business.
What were your main tasks during the internship?
Sourcing (looking for new suppliers), Communication with the suppliers, COGS analysis, Freight cost analysis, Sourcing strategy development, Sourcing execution, Contracting, Developing skills and usage of ERP system, Working with excel (analysing and presenting data), Participating in the execution of sustainable packaging project.
In what ways do you think you were developed as a professional in a business environment during your internship?
I learned how to organize the job and the tasks received. Also, I developed the ability of working in the team.
What did you like the most during your supply chain internship?
I liked that I can take responsibility and work on my own. Also, the team was very helpful, welcoming and easy to work with.
How did you spend your time outside working hours?
As the company provided the car I was travelling through surrounding areas and nearby cities as (Bournemouth, Bath, Bristol). Also, while living in Salisbury I met a mate, so we were going out on weekends. During some weekends and Christmas holiday I was going to London, where I have couple of friends, so I was spending time with them.
Was it easy to adapt to your new environment?
Yes, I didn’t find it difficult to adapt to the new environment. During my first day the HR manager introduced me to everyone, also showed me around. So, it was easy to adapt.
How satisfied were you with ESPA’s services and accommodation?
I am thankful to ESPA, their services were really helpful. I was getting relevant advices when needed.
Would you recommend ESPA to your friends?
Definitely, the service provided was really helpful.
What’s next for you?
I have to finish my bachelor program, afterwards I am planning to take a masters program.
