Market Research Intern – Anna Livia Székely
Anna travelled from Hungary to the UK for a 6-month Market Research Internship in Bath.
What was your motivation to apply for this market research internship?
ESPA suggested me a suitable position, based on my CV and career aspects.
What were your main tasks during the market research internship?
I learnt a lot about sales and both B2B and B2C marketing. Prospecting, recording and maintaining data with a CRM system belonged to my responsibilities as well as designing social media posts, participating in the conduction of mass email campaigns, and other projects.
In what ways do you think you were developed as a professional in a business environment during your internship?
Although my internship was massively affected by the pandemic, I could gain some hands-on experience in sales and marketing. Developing my communication techniques, learning what makes a leader, and getting familiar with programs used in professional life all added to my work experience. The internship helped me to see the worlds from another perspective and become a more reliable person.
What did you like the most during your market research internship?
The UK has always amazed me, and my PTS could only prove my positive feelings. From the very first day, I liked my colleagues, their open-minded thoughts, great sense of humour, and different accents. I loved looking around and see that shade of green that hardly can be found on the continent.
How did you spend your time outside working hours?
Because of the lockdown, I had less time to spend among the Brits, so I had to use it efficiently. I enjoyed exploring surrounding areas, so I grabbed every opportunity to do so. Also, my CEO let me stay in the office after work to concentrate on my volunteer projects and was kind to share his opinion about them when I asked for it. I tried new sports and still practice kickboxing that I had fallen for in Bath. Also, tasting British beers and ciders meant a socializing occasion, and their taste a fantastic experience for me.
Was it easy to adapt to your new environment?
During my whole internship, my colleagues paid a lot of attention to my feelings and well-being. They looked after me and cared about even unexpected needs, such as picking me up at that station on my arrival day. Those months in the UK seem now only for a fantastic moment, time passed incredibly fast there.
What was the funniest thing that happened during your internship?
My colleagues’ faces when they saw my tears on my last day at work. I loved those months in the UK.
How satisfied were you with ESPA’s services and accommodation?
From the very beginning, ESPA was kind but professional and very helpful. All my questions got answered, and the accommodation was much better than I expected. I lived in one of the most beautiful towns in England and could not only enjoy the beauty of the area, but ESPA helped me with ideas to do and places to visit.
Would you recommend ESPA to your friends?
Looking back, I can say those months in the UK mean one of the happiest periods in my life. I have and surely will recommend ESPA.
What’s next for you?
Being an ESPA intern is more than only using an agency to find a suitable position: it also opens unexpected doors. A few days ago, I got a call from a London-based company inviting me for an interview. Even though I believe this opportunity was not suitable for me, I will continue to build my career, and ESPA means a great first step for it. I already am and will be using skills gained and developed as an ESPA intern.
